Felix Dolci brings home the bronze medal in the Senior Men’s All-Around competition at the 2022 Pan American Championships in Artistic Gymnastics

OTTAWA, ON (July 22, 2022) – Team Canada travelled to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from July 15-17 for the 2022 Pan American Championships in Artistic Gymnastics. The competition included men’s and women’s artistic gymnastics in both the junior and senior categories. Team Canada included nineteen athletes – nine women and ten men.

Throughout the Championships, our Canadian athletes achieved exceptional performances and came home with seven individual medals and four team medals. Both the junior men’s and women’s teams captured second place in the team competition. In the senior competition, both the men’s and women’s teams captured third place in the team competition.

In the individual competition, Felix Dolci (Laval Excellence, QC) captured the bronze medal in the Senior Men’s All-Around competition as well as the bronze in the floor exercise apparatus final. In the senior men’s pommel horse apparatus final, Jayson Rampersad (Gymnastics Mississauga, ON) finished in second place, bringing home the silver medal. In the senior women’s competition, Sydney Turner (TAG Sports Centre, BC) captured the bronze medal in the uneven bars apparatus finals.

“My performance at PanAms left me feeling very hopeful for what I can accomplish in the future. It was a was a step forward towards my goals,” shared Jayson Rampersad. “It feels great to have that experience to move forward with and build off. I’m really proud of the team who put in the work to qualify Canada for the next World Championships.”

In the junior categories, Xavier Olasz (Loyalist Gymnastics Club, ON) finished in second place in the pommel horse apparatus final. In the women’s junior competition, Evandra Zlobec (Wimgym, QC) captured the silver medal in the uneven bars’ apparatus final, while Cristella Brunetti-Burns (Wimgym, QC) captured the silver medal in the balance beam apparatus final.
